FRIEND PIPPED TO WIN BY INCIDENT

After my escapades in the Micro Max it was good to get back to my Xenon Honda Cadet and have a weekend racing at Whilton Mill.

Saturday testing went well…in the snow! It was freezing but we still showed mega pace and was consistently one of the fastest on circuit. Sundays racing should see some good battles, but due to the shorter days this meeting was just two heats and final.

After a quick three lap warm up we were straight into the heats. Heat one saw Albie tear through the grid. Starting 19th and finishing in FOURTH! It was an awesome sight to see a nine year old shred the competition and overtake FIFTEEN drivers! Heat 2 and much the same as heat one, Started in 11th position this time and sailed across the line in SECOND! Another nine moves and narrowly missing out on the heat win by 0.25 seconds.

This put Albie on a very well earnt pole position for the 12 lap final. A poor start saw Albie drop down to third place, but as ever by lap five he had battled his way back into the lead. On lap nine a questionable attempt at an overtake saw Albie spiralling off the circuit and buried in the mud bath of a run off area and ended his potential final win with a disastrous DNF.

Although it wasn’t the result we had hoped for, the huge positive is that his race pace and overtaking skills looked MEGA and he can’t wait to show his competitors this in the 2022 British Nationals next year!
